• When the older person who needs care has a spouse living with them, employing a live-in care worker becomes particularly challenging, especially since many migrant workers prefer to work for someone who lives alone. The relationships in the "new family" that form in the home, that consists of the live-in worker and the "healthy" spouse, are delicate matters. The state regulations make these dynamics even harder.
