• Throughout the twentieth century, LA has attracted successive waves of Latin American, Asian, and European immigrants, as well as African Americans who migrated from the South and developed into one of the most diverse cities in the US and the world. LA has become the place where the Atlantic Rim and the Pacific Rim "meet." Scholars have focused on this LA's multiracial/ethnic dynamics, exploring its interracial political activism (Pulido 2006; Sides 2006; Kurashige 2008; Lipsitz 2010; Bernstein 2011; Kun and Pulido 2014; Rosas 2019; Davis and Wiener 2020).
