• Contemporary mainstream media target and represent girls as subjects of post-feminist neoliberal color-blind programming. Mixed-race Latina girls have begun to appear in a range of streaming and network programming. For example, Alycia Pascual-Peña is the catalyst for a girl-led social movement in Netflix's Moxie (2021), Amy Poehler's effort at an intersectional teen narrative, while also serving as a co-protagonist in the reboot of Saved by the Bell (2020-2022). Similarly, in On My Block (Netflix, 2018-2021), Monse, an Afro-Latina teen, mobilizes her street and book smarts to imagine ways to improve the conditions of her community. In The Baby-Sitters Club (Netflix, 2020-2022), Dawn Schafer moves from Los Angeles to suburban Connecticut to contribute her urban savvy and politically correct ways to the other girls. This chapter explores the visibility of mixed Latinidad as it is articulated to gendered teenhood and serves a bridge role highlighting their disruptive potential.
