  • Splanchnic artery aneurysms are rare with a reported incidence of lesser than 2%. General treatment options of all splanchnic artery aneurysms include open surgical repair or endovascular treatment. A thorough knowledge of the anatomy and important collateral vessels involving the splanchnic arteries is required to determine the appropriate exposure and operative treatment of visceral artery aneurysms. The celiac axis originates from the anterior surface of the proximal abdominal aorta as it passes between the diaphragmatic crura at the level of the 12th thoracic vertebra. Most commonly, the artery divides into three major branches within 2 cm of its origin: the common hepatic artery (CHA); splenic artery; and left gastric artery (LGA). Hepatic artery aneurysms (HAAs) are the most common visceral artery aneurysm. Arterial reconstruction can often be performed with an interposition graft between the remaining proximal and distal portions of the hepatic artery.
