A mode configurable Hybrid Smart ADC is presented in this paper. It generates a variable resolution architecture with variable frequency for multi-sensor applications. Variable resolution is achieved through a hybrid combinations of flash and SAR ADC. The ADC functions in different operating modes, which are programmed digitally. The proposed ADC has been simulated in 180 nm technology at a supply voltage of 1.8 V. A case study of 10-bit Hybrid Smart ADC was implemented, which has an effective number of bits greater than 9.5 bits.
