  • In the distribution network or long-distance transmission line system, harmonic may be severely amplified due to resonance between the line inductor and reactive compensation capacitor or line parasitic capacitor. In order to suppress harmonic amplification, the resistive active power filter (R-APF) is usually installed on the line, it changes the standing wave state on the line by simulating the characteristics of a harmonic resistor. The installation position and the admittance gain of R-APF have a direct impact on the suppression effect and compensation capacity. However, the optimal solution for capacity and suppression effect is not consistent. This paper proposes an R-APF optimization method for two objectives, one is to achieve the best suppression effect under given capacity conditions, and the other is to obtain the expected suppression effect using minimal capacity. The method can effectively save the capacity of the R-APF and improve the suppression effect.
