The microstructure and microhardness of the boride layers formed on die D5 steel are investigational and confronted, by different methods - electron beam borating a continuous and impulsive bunch in vacuum. Formed layers have a heterogeneous structure, which combines solid and plastic components resulting in the fragility reduction of boride layer.
