This paper proposes a facile liquid-based Eutectic Gallium-Indium (EGaln) microfluidic stretchable sensor. It combines an Ecoflex microchannels embedded with liquid EGaln as sensing element of the stretchable sensor. Aimed to realize high sensitivity and high stretchability of the stretchable sensor, topological design of the size and shape of microchannels are optimized. Soft-lithography method was used to fabricate microchannels with Ecoflex and embedded in EGaIn. The liquid metal stretchable sensor shows approximately linear behavior from 0 to 550% with a maximum gauge factor of 4.95. Detection of joints motions was also demonstrated using the stretchable sensors, which showed great potential in wearable biomedical applications with excellent mechanical flexibility, high sensitivity and conformability.
