  • This paper reports about the development and implementation of an electronic glove as aid for persons involved in hand rehabilitation process and persons with speech impairment to communicate with gestures. The electronic glove is safe, easily transportable and provides feedback of multiple hand movements and gestures. We employed a flexible, stretchable filament strain sensors and ultra thin flexible pressure sensors, which are capable of detecting movements of fingers and pressure distribution at the palm, while the persons is handling objects in real time. A wireless data acquisition system is developed to process the sensor signals in the glove in real time basis. Furthermore, we evaluated the glove by monitoring the hand movements while holding a real time object and converts the sign language into a text.
