  • Packet video transmission over wireless communication networks is expected to experience packet loss due to either temporary link outage or fading-induced bit errors. Such packet losses often occur in bursts which can significantly degrade the image quality. Error concealment is an effective video data recovery approach to reduce the influence. In this paper, a novel temporal error concealment algorithm for the H.264 is proposed. Firstly the current neighboring blocks with the strongest motion correlation (CNBs-SMC) are estimated which exploits the linear trajectory feature of the successive frames. Then a mathematical expression which describes the trend of movement is obtained according to CNBs-SMC. Finally the motion vector of missing block is concealed with the mathematical expression. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm improves the subjective video quality and obtains a gain of about 0.7dB~2.5dB in PSNR, compared with conventional video data recovery algorithm.
