Compact and mobile device able to log environmental temperature and humidity has been developed. This device is powered from embedded battery. Collected data is transferred to external terminal by means of RFID link that does not require power to be supplied from battery that allows extended battery lifetime above 5 years depending on data acquisition rate. Possible ways to further extend battery lifetime has been evaluated. System that harvests energy from mains wires has been evaluated and tested. This system is based on collapsible current transformers made of standard power inductors and additional magnetic circuit part.
