  • Computer Aided Design (CAD) is an essential technology in new product design. In this field of work, requirements are highly dynamic and require a large amount of human input. To create a deeper understanding of human information processing in product design, a phase-dependent multi-aspect taxonomy for the description and analysis of human reliability in product design with Computer Aided Design (CAD) has been developed. Based on this taxonomy, different research hypotheses regarding the effects of the variables "frequency of interruption" and "amount of available time" on the quota of fulfilled product requirements are formulated. These hypotheses were empirically analyzed by conducting a laboratory experiment with 79 students from a master program in mechanical engineering of RWTH Aachen University.
