• This paper presents a study of optimal mean photon number (μ) analysis in Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) experiments. The rationale of this study is to analyze the eavesdropping technology assumptions regarding the optimal mean photon number. This work limits its scope only on the fiber-based QKD implementation.
