Technology innovation and sustainable resource use are closely related to a country's socioeconomic development. This paper explores the necessity of ongoing research and development initiatives to improve individuals' quality of life and promote sustainable development. Drawing from the Outcome Based Education (OBE) framework and ABET criteria, this research evaluates the growth and impact of research initiatives within a selected university. It examines the evolution of research departments/schools/centers in sciences, their contributions to scientific knowledge, and their relevance in addressing societal challenges. A few of the main goals are to chart the expansion of research units inside the institution, evaluate the relevance and applicability of their contributions to science, and measure their influence using indicators like publications, patents, and faculty awards. The purpose of this study is to provide information to funding agencies, educational institutions, and policymakers regarding the effectiveness of research investments in promoting socioeconomic advancement. Universities may play a critical role in tackling the complex issues facing society while promoting scientific knowledge and innovation by coordinating research goals with national development agendas and encouraging multidisciplinary cooperation.
