Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) relies on the strongly localized evanescent field at the interface of the sensing material and coupling medium, and has been widely used in photoacoustic (PA) detection. And Surface plasmon resonance phenomenon is easily excited by TFBG. However, most of the current fiber laser-ultrasonic actuators only allow the effective generation of ultrasonic waves on the end face of the optical fiber and have never considered the effective combination of optical fiber and SPR optical phenomenon to generate ultrasonic waves. In this study, a tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG) plasmonic active ultrasonic actuator that matched the specific wavelength of the laser, which can effectively generate ultrasound in the side area of the TFBG, has been proposed and demonstrated. This novel and simple-to-manufacture TFBG-SPR laser-ultrasonic actuator have potential applications in fiber-optic ultrasonic testing technology.
