The growing integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems into electrical grids is altering the characteristics of traditional electrical systems, originally designed and operated with synchronous generators. To mitigate the impact of wind and photovoltaic (PV) converters on system stability, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are often employed. The article focuses on the modeling and simulation of these sources and BESS in the ANATEM software by using the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) models. The case study involves a hybrid plant simulation consisting of a PV plant, wind turbine, and BESS integrated into an existing wind farm in Casa Nova, Brazil. Two simulation scenarios are analyzed: a short circuit and a load variation. The study successfully implements and validates WECC models in ANATEM. The simulations demonstrate the dynamic behavior of the converters and the BESS system in responding to disturbances and compensating for operating conditions.
