Back ground: This study was con ducted to ex plore the risk fac tors of sur gery and com pli ca tion-free sur vival rate in our pa tients with in fra-re nal ab dom i nal aor tic aneurysms.
Meth ods: From Jan u ary 1994 to De cem ber 2006, a to tal of 81 in fra-re nal ab dom i nal aor tic an eu rysm pa tients (14 rup tured aneurysms, 67 elec tives) were ad mit ted to un dergo op er a tion. Pa tient who had thoraco-ab dom i nal aneurysms, mycotic aneurysms, iat ro genic aneurysms, trau matic aneurysms, or pa tients who un der went other
sur gery at the same time were ex cluded from this study. The re search was con ducted based on re view of med i cal records and interviews with patients.
Re sults: Our co hort (N = 81) had mean age of 71.0 ± 7.6 years, fe male-to-male ra tio of 13:68, fol low-up du ra tion of 5.2 ± 3.3 years, and per son-time of 420.3 per son-years. There was 1 sur gi cal/hos pi tal death (1.5%) among the 67 elec tive cases. There were 2 (14.3%) sur gi cal deaths and 5 (35.7%) hos pi tal deaths
