While european borders are more and more securitized, access to the territory for persons in need of international protection has become a humanitarian issue in which a diversity of citizens, NGOs and associations are involved. This article questions how these non-state actors participate in a "humanitarian borderwork", through the study of ad hoc setting promoted in Italy and in the United Kingdom, to support safe and legal passages for migrants. Initiated in the context of emergencies, these "humanitarian corridors" and "Safe passages" took base in the notion of vulnerability to advocate for a moderate and selective opening of the border. What can be the role of these humanitarian non-state actors in the management of the borders, and what are the limits of their action in a context of restrictive migration policies?
