Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • In this issue of OEM, Iszatt and her colleagues present a study on water disinfection by-products (DBPs) and the associated risk of poor semen quality. 1 They report no evidence of elevated risk in association with total trihalomethanes (THMs), chloroform or brominated THMs in public drinking water. In these studies, conducted in areas chosen because of contrasted levels and nature of DBP mixtures, special care has been taken in the assessment of exposure with regular monitoring at the tap or on water network during the study period and subsequent modelling of several classes of DBP, in parallel with collection of water use habits, allowing assessment of uptakes through various routes of exposure.
