• This paper points out the early Heidegger's lecture about St. Augustine (1921) showing how his confessional exposition has been appropriated in order to characterize the factical concreteness of human existence. In general, the task that Augustine attempted after the acknowledgement of his own precariousness was to save his life from the dispersion and peculiar fragmentation before his reunion with God. The German philosopher proceeds through the selection and assimilation of the elements that had been elaborated in Book X and formally indicated them for the first time. In this initial stage of his path, the interpretation process of Heidegger consisted of the transmutation of Augustine's confessed affliction set in modal-existential characterization. In the years after this lecture (1921-1927), it was possible to see a relocation of the disclosed determinations through the broadening of Heidegger's philosophical project's scope, which culminated with Being and Time's publication.
