• The financial services reform bill likely will not be passed during the 1998 session. The Senate, due to the fiat of Majority Leader Trent Lott, has delayed consideration of the bill which makes it virtually impossible for the bill to be enacted into law this year. While technically the bill remains alive, American Bankers Association Chief Lobbyist Edward L. Yingling says that the odds are against it being voted on.
