• Pollen embryos were obtained from genotype Jaspis, HE 5237, Dissa and Shooner in anther culture experiments with spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) genotype. Formation of proembryos inside the cultured anthers during the first 10-14 days was significantly influenced by genotypes and type of culture media. In the experiments were used the following culture media: MS (Murashige and Skoog, 1962), N6 (Chu, 1978), NN (Nitch and Nitch, 1969) with addition of 1.1 mmol L sup(-1) glutamine and 1.1 mmol L sup(-1) myo-inositol and all the media were supplemented with 7.9 micromol L sup(-1) 2,4-D, 1.2 micromol L sup(-1) kinetin, 1.2 micromol L sup(-1) BAP, 175 mmol L sup(-1) maltose and 175 L sup(-1) sucrose. Pollen embryos developed and regenerated into plants. The best medium for green plant production was medium supplemented with 2.4 micromol L sup(-1) kinetin, 4.4 micromol L sup(-1) BAP, 2.7 micromol L sup(-1) NAA and 87.7 mmol L sup(-1) sucrose.
