• The objects of the present paper were soils originated from dune sand covering alluvial sands of the Biosphere Reserve Puszcza Kampinoska. Two catenas were set trough the zone of strict and partial protection. It was found that the most important factor decisive for typological differentiation of soils has been relief. Proper rusty soils occur in the upper and subtop parts of dunes. In the plains between dunes podzol soils prevail, rarely accompanied by rusty gley soils and at the dune foot the gley-podzol soils are present
