• Pre-treatment solutions on vase life, water content, water uptake, anthocyanin content, and peroxidase activity of Iris hollandica 'Blue Magic' were investigated. The vase life of cut Iris teated with 3% sucrose plus 100 mgㆍL-¹ benzyl amino-purine (Sucrose + BA) was extended 4 days longer than the control. The treatments of 3% sucrose plus 0.4 mM silver thiosulphate (Sucrose + STS) and 3% sucrose plus 200 mgㆍL-¹ 8-hydroxyquinoline sulphate (Sucrose + HQS) did not markedly extend the vase life.
