Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • In 1791, the United States Constitution was amended, in what became known as the Bill of Rights. The 4 landmark Supreme Court cases highlighted in this 28-minute videotape will help students discover how the actions of one individual can affect the rights of every United States citizen. The video includes stories of how ordinary citizens took steps to make the Bill of Rights come alive. The stories delve into court cases involving the First Amendment's protections of freedom of speech and religion, and the Fifth Amendment's prohibition of self incrimination. The video should help students realize that the actions and beliefs of ordinary citizens help enforce the Bill of Rights, how Supreme Court decisions in four cases extended rights to all citizens, the difficulties that citizens may encounter when standing up for their rights, and informed opinions about individual rights as expressed in the Bill of Rights.
