The aim of the study was to analyze a series of cases of peripheral odontogenic tumors and allied lesions (peripheral cemento-ossifying fibroma- PCOF). Ninety-two cases of peripheral odontogenic tumors and PCOF were collected. Their histopathological and clinical-radiographic features were reevaluated. These tumors accounted for 0.13% of oral and jaw pathologies. PCOF was the most frequent lesion (48 cases; 52%), followed by peripheral odontogenic fibroma (20 cases; 22%). Mean age was 38 years (4-78 years). Women were affected more frequently, with the predominant location being the buccal aspect of the anterior sector of the maxilla (25 cases; 27%). The prevalent clinical diagnosis was epulis (44 cases; 54%). Peripheral odontogenic tumors, including PCOF, are infrequent. To our knowledge, this is the first study on the frequency and distribution of these tumors conducted in Latin America, adding to the few publications in the literature. The diagnosis of these tumors requires a thorough analysis of the histopathological and clinical-radiographic features.
