• This chapter provides definitions for the terms used in an application program. The terms application and program are often used interchangeably, but there is a defined difference in C#. This definition of program differs from common usage. In C#, a program is just the input to the compiler. The output of the compiler is an assembly, which is either an application or a class library. Terms explicitly defined in this International Standard are not to be presumed to refer implicitly to similar terms defined elsewhere. Terms not defined in this International Standard are to be interpreted according to ISO/IEC 2382.1. Mathematical symbols not defined in this International Standard are to be interpreted according to ISO 31.11.
