• The article proposes, in the horizon of the Freudian theoretical frame, the comprehension of the tourism as human expression searching knowledge and pleasure somewhere else where the original object cannot be identified. It analyzes, in the context of globalization, a dynamic interaction among the universal and the local activated by the reception process. Even in highlighted touristic destinations with the colors of traditional, universal and mercantilist practices, the touristic experience, through the reception, can become source of knowledge, breaking the host and the guest’s frontiers of territories, inaugurating spaces of objective and subjective dimensions. The reflections point out to a premature development in the relational conditions to the reception, even between the tourism professionals. In this sense, it is pertinent the implementation of formation processes towards the development of competence to the reception, through the narrow collaboration among the academy, the elementary and high school, public administration and the touristic trade.
