• La communication portant sur le changement climatique reste un défi majeur. Le langage utilisé joue un rôle essentiel dans la conceptualisation et le cadrage des discours portant sur le réchauffement de notre planète. Ces discours constituent un champ hétérogène, dont le discours des enquêtes représente un sous-domaine de plus en plus central. La raison en est que les opinions et attitudes des citoyens sont d’une importance particulière en ce qui concerne les chemins à prendre afin d’atténuer les conséquences négatives des changements climatiques. Dans cette contribution, une comparaison entre des données françaises et norvégiennes obtenues par des enquêtes représentatives sera présentée. Les participants des enquêtes ont répondu à la question ouverte suivante : « A quoi pensez-vous quand vous entendez ou lisez l'expression "changement climatique"? » Etant donné la différence entre les bouquets énergétiques des deux pays, on pourra s’attendre à des discordances entre les associations évoquées par les Français et les Norvégiens. A contrario, au vu de la dimension globale et commune du changement climatique, on pourra s’attendre à des manières similaires de s’exprimer. Ces questions seront abordées dans un cadre théorique de l’énonciation, comprenant des perspectives liées à la modalité déontique. What conceptions of “climate change” in France and in Norway? Results of two surveys. The communication of climate change constitutes a major challenge. Language plays a central role in the conceptualisation and the framing of the discourses dealing with the warming of our planet. These discourses form a heterogeneous field, of which survey discourse constitutes a sub-field that becomes more and more central. The reason is the fact that people’s opinions and attitudes are particularly important concerning the paths to take in order to mitigate the negative consequences of the climate changes. In the present contribution, a comparison between French and Norwegian data obtained through representative surveys will be presented. The survey participants have answered the following open-ended question: “What comes to mind when you hear or read the expression ‘climate change’?” Given the difference between the two countries’ energy mix, one would expect some dissonance between the French and the Norwegian associations. However, given the global and common dimension of climate change, one would also expect similar ways of expression. These questions will be addressed within the theoretical framework of enunciation, comprising perspectives of deontic modality.
