  • The aim of this study was to determine the pressure distribution in a layer of rape seeds. Two methods were used for this purpose: hydraulic pressure sensors with active rubber face and stress state transducer with six duralumin face sensors. The sensors developed for the direct in-bulk measurement functioned well and provided reliable data for rape seeds. The calibration of each of the sensors was determined both on the surface and inside the layer. The lateral to vertical pressure ratio k1 varied from 0.35 (in the centre of the silo) to 0,44 (at the walls). The ratio along the radius was lower than the pressure at next cycles of loading. When the vertical pressure increased, the friction force and the cohesion between grains increased, too, influencing thus the ratio.
