• In this contribution the authors are discussing the topic of political adult education in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). Based on the biography of four key persons who were east- and west-remigrants in the GDR (the Minister of People's Education, the Director of the Berlin Radio, the Chief-Ideologist of the Party and the Secretary of Women's Education in the Central Committee) they reflect the political background of the pedagogical ideas and concepts these protagonists tried to realize, as well as the chances and obstacles they met.
