• Of the activities that originate in the historical game postgame, the writing of AARs has been relatively little studied. AARs (After Action Reports) are texts that users write reworking their game experiences, and when they relate to historical games, they can lead to unprecedented spaces where it is possible to understand how history circulates and is used within some online communities. By analyzing 47 AARs from the video game Total War: Rome II, and found on the Total War Center site, the present study aims to shed more light on this practice. In particular, it will investigate how users explore the past through the writing of such texts and address the main issues the practice poses for critical engagement with history Delle attività che si originano nel post game di historical game, la scrittura di AARs è stata relativamente poco studiata. Gli AARs (After Action Reports) sono testi che gli utenti scrivono rielaborando le proprie esperienze di gioco e che, quando si riferiscono ad historical game, possono condurre ad inediti spazi dove è possibile comprendere come la storia circoli e venga utilizzata all’interno di alcune community online. Analizzando 47 AARs del videogame Total War: Rome II, e presenti sul sito Total War Center, il presente studio intende fare maggiore luce su questa pratica. In particolare, indagherà in che modo gli utenti esplorino il passato attraverso la scrittura di tali testi e si soffermerà sulle principali problematiche che la pratica pone per un ingaggio critico con la stori
