• Desde la época clásica el humor escatológico fue relacionado con la humillación de los grupos inferiores de la sociedad. El anónimo autor del Lazarillo de Tormes utilizó los excrementos para hacer reír al lector. Mateo Alemán se dio cuenta del valor de este tipo de humor para demostrar la ignominia de su personaje. El novelista utilizó la escatología para humillar a Guzmán y castigarlo por sus vicios. Combinó sexo y escatología como muestras de la imperfección moral del ser humano. Since the classical era, eschatological humor was associated with the humiliation of the lower echelons of society. The anonymous author of Lazarillo de Tormes used feces to make the reader laugh. Mateo Alemán realized the importance of this kind of humor to prove the ignominy of his character. The novelist used eschatology for the purpose of humiliating Guzmán, and punishing him for his vices. He mixed sex and eschatology as a way to demonstrate the moral imperfections of the human being.
