• Trained as a public folklorist with an MA from the University of California, Los Angeles, she has piloted participatory cultural asset mapping in neglected and rural areas of the state and consults with other organizations and across sectors on this method of discovery and inclusion of community voices. An independent scholar, she works in the field of cultural resource management and historic preservation and is an affiliate of the Bulosan Center for Filipino Studies, Asian American Studies, University of California, Davis. Mark Y. Miyake teaches and advises students at Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies at Western Washington University in his capacity as Associate Professor of Music and Society, and directs the Fairhaven College program in Audio Technology, Music, and Society. Selina is the former director of the Philadelphia Folklore Project and serves as the chair of the Board of Directors of the Folk Arts-Cultural Treasures Charter School and on the Advisory Council of the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.
