• Explored was the effect of interrupted mechanoactivation (MA) on SHS reactions in low-caloric Nb-Si powder blends. A mode of MA (non-interrupted or interrupted) was found to affect the morphology of activated blend and hence the combustion temperature, burning velocity, and microstructure of SHS product.
