• The complex salt [Ni(C ][Pt(C ] × [Νi(C ] × 2 H O has been crystal­lized by interdiffusion of [Ni(C ]Cl and K [Pt(C ]. It is triclinic. Ρ1̄. a = 3.673(1), b = 13.622(4), c = 14.371(4) Å, α = 94.01(2), β = 95.11(2), γ = 92.14(2)°. V = 713.7(4) Å , Z = 1, M = 994.96, D = 2.31 g cm , MoK , γ = 0.710 Å. μ = 61.3 cm , F(000) = 488, room temperature, wR = 0.034 for 3109 observed independent reflections. Segregated parallel stacksof [Pt(C - anions, [Ni(C cations, and neutral [Ni(C ] complex molecules run along a, and there is a 2:1 ratio of Ni and Pt complex stacks, interlinked by a network of strong intermolecular H bridges. The difference between the double positive and the neutral Ni complexes is marginal, as the assignment of the charges is based upon a slightly asymmetric intermolecular Ο-H--O bridge. 1.06(7) and 1.44(8) Å.
