Foams have the power of sucking oil into the junctions between the liquid films or lamellae which separate air bubbles, probably because the cury ature of the water‐air surface is greatest, and the pressure in the liquid lowest, at these junctions. When a foam carrying lines of oil along these junctions breaks, the oil is dispersed as fine droplets; therefore foams can assist emulsification of oil.
