• The leadership role that Lu assumed with Bess, his wife’s continual assistance to him as acknowledged in his books, by his attending the conference of the "Diagnostic and Statistical Treatment Manual" proposed book on the campus of the University of Rhode Island in Kingston many years ago; the celebration of his short-lived remarriage when he docked in Ft. Lauderdale on his honeymoon cruise ship and we had dinner together, his getting stuck with viewing what seemed to be an endless parade of photographs of Ella’s trip to China while Bernie Mazel, (the publisher of The American Journal of Family Therapy by Brunner/Mazel Publications) and I played a championship ping-pong match in their home in Larchmont, New York, and finally the event of Lu serving as a consultant to an internet project at the University of Pennsylvanian where Dr. Gerald Weeks, his former graduate student, and I greeted Lu upon his arrival and enjoyed our entertainment of his presence as the “poor little boy from Italy” as he introduced himself.
