Beschreibungen/Notizen
The problem of using time as a frame of reference in measuring economic processes is discussed. Key approaches to time in economics & existing time-based typologies of economic theory are discussed, & 3 time frames of reference are outlined: unit, discrete, & continuous. They are seen as coexistent, but also as noncombinant & nonsynthetic. A cognitive scheme for theory construction is offered that contains three levels -- observation, theory, & measurement -- & is time bound, according to the time frame of reference chosen. The limitations of the paradigm are noted; acceptance of multiple explanations regarding observed systems or phenomena is considered vital. 3 Figures, 37 References. J. Cannon.
