The adsorption performance and photocatalytic activity are regarded as an important part of measuring the photodegradation efficiency of photocatalysts. Herein, the Bi2O2CO3-BiOI II type heterojunction photocatalyst (BiI/BiC-GX) with high adsorption-photocatalytic degradation performance was designed and synthesized by hydrothermal and hydrolysis methods. The high adsorption-photocatalytic capability of Bi2O2CO3-BiOI comes from the ameliorative Bi2O2CO3 samples with the existence of functional group, oxygen vacancy (OVs), and ultrathin nanosheet as well as the prepared heterojunction with the improved photoinduced charge transfer efficiency and wide absorption range, resulting in the consequence of “1 + 1 > 2″. The BiI/BiC-G heterojunction displays activity superior to Bi2O2CO3 and BiOI in the photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride (TC), rhodamine B (RhB) and bisphenol A (BPA). The generated •O2-, •OH, and 1O2 are the primary reactive species in the photocatalytic degradation system. This study gives a feasible idea to design high adsorbed photocatalyst, thereby accomplishing effective degradation of wastewater.
