• Según la Medicina Tradicional China, la manifestación de los síntomas dolorosos de la disfunción temporomandibular (DTM) puede afectar al equilibrio energético del paciente. Describir el caso clínico de una paciente con DTM y los síntomas asociados de cefalea y zumbido, que recibió tratamiento con acupuntura. Se realizaron 6 sesiones de acupuntura, utilizando los puntos R 7 (Fuliu), H 2 (Xingjian), VB 34 (Yanglingquan), SJ 17 (Yifeng), VB 20 (Fengchi) y VB 39 (Xuanzhong) para el patrón energético de la paciente, que fue el Ascenso de Yang de Hígado. Con las sesiones, la paciente relataba la ausencia de cefalea, de los dolores en las articulaciones temporomandibulares y del zumbido relacionados con la DTM, además de mejorar su calidad del sueño y disposición. El tratamiento con acupuntura promovió una disminución de los síntomas dolorosos de la DTM, lo que puede ser una alternativa terapéutica para esa enfermedad. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the manifestation of the painful symptoms of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) can affect the energy balance of the patient. To describe the clinical case of a patient with TMD and the associated headache and tinnitus symptoms, and who received treatment with acupuncture. A total of 6 sessions of acupuncture were performed, using the R7 points (Fuliu), H2 (Xingjian), VB34 (Yanglingquan), SJ17 (Yifeng), VB20 (Fengchi), and VB39 (Xuanzhong) for the energy pattern of the patient, which was Ascending Liver Yang. With the sessions, the patient referred to the absence of headache, of the pains in the temporomandibular joint, and the tinnitus associated with the TMD, as well as improving her quality of sleep and her well-being. Treatment with acupuncture led to a decrease in the painful symptoms of TMD, which could be a therapeutic alternative for that disorder.
