Some administrative and methodological problems and means to develop advanced man-machine interfaces of large information systems with hundreds of users are described based on two case studies. As an evolutionary development tool to deliver user-feedback for this kind environments an electronic mail system is proposed. As a user-interface technique network-oriented (instead of traditional of menu-type) and memory supported dialogue seemed to be the best in customer oriented application. Several windows were too complex to handle in this manner, but simple pop-up note-windows were usable.
