Two melts, each nominally 30Na

3 mol%, were prepared from batches melted at 825°C after which one melt was held for an additional 15 min at 1200°C. The two melts were then held at 850°C for up to 3 h during which glass samples were cast at specified time intervals. All samples were then annealed together and the temperature at which the glass volume curve intersected the supercooled liquid curve was determined by dilatometry for one bar to be 454°C. The density at room temperature and dc conductivity, σ
dc, from 100 to 250°C were each measured for all the samples. The measurements of the glass density and σ
dc were not statistically different within the precision of the measurements for the various heat treatments. Thus, the glass properties were found to be only a function of glass composition and not thermal history at these elevated temperatures.
