• In this paper we report and discuss results of spectral thermoluminescence and resonantly excited photoluminescence measurements performed on nominally pure and doped tungstates. We present herein, for the first time in tungstates, F centre emission in CaWO 4. The sharp zero-phonon lines of CaWO 4 we attribute to an emission of bound excitons. A weak, broad emission from CaWO 4/Cr is assigned to electronic transitions within CrO 2- 4 complexes.
