[ClBe{MeN(CH2CH2NMe2)2}]+Cl− ‐ a Cationic Beryllium Complex
Beryllium(II)chloride reacts with N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylentriamine (PMDETA) in dichloromethane suspension to give the cationic complex [ClBe{MeN(CH2CH2NMe2)2}]+Cl− (1), which crystallizes with one equivalent of CH2Cl2. 1 is characterized by IR spectroscopy and by X‐ray single crystal structure analysis. 1·CH2Cl2: Space group P21, Z = 2, lattice dimensions at 193 K: a = 696.2(1), b = 1107.7(2), c = 1113.4(1) pm, β = 98.20(1)°, R1 = 0.0355.
